After “The Joker” surpassed $ 1 billion at the box office, it was hard to believe Warner wasn’t interested in starting a franchise.

According to the Daily Mirror, Joaquin Phoenix is negotiating a $ 50 million contract to play The Joker in two other films.

The source says scripts for both sequences are already being written and Joaquin is “very committed” to production.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that filmmaker Todd Phillips – director of the first feature film – will return as co-writer on the new production.

The news was shared by posting in an article on Hollywood’s top lawyers. At the time, the text points to Warren Dern, noting that Todd Phillips would have “closed a deal to co-write the next Joker film”.

Remember that Warner Bros. has not yet officially positioned itself. However, THR is world famous for its scoops.

The idea for Warner Bros is to release the new films in 2023 and 2025.

In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Joaquin Phoenix said he only signed on for one movie, but is now considering making a sequel.

“I think the fear was getting stuck and doing something repetitive that you didn’t care about, that didn’t motivate or turn you on. Part of the attraction, for me, was that there were no expectations. I did not sign a contract to do [múltiplos filmes]. Only one”.

However, Phoenix admitted that he and director Todd Phillips started talking about the movie’s sequel and what it might look like.

“In the second or third week of shooting, I was like, ‘Todd, can you start working on a sequel? There is a lot to explore ‘”.
