Johnny Depp appears in the first image of his return to the cinema in Louis XV

A new image from the film ‘Jeanne Du Barry’ has been released by Why Not Productions, featuring Johnny Depp as King Louis XV.

The film will mark Depp’s return to acting, after several issues regarding judgments and complaints.

It should be noted that this film is not a Hollywood production. The new film, in fact, is a production of French cinema, directed by filmmaker Maïwenn.

‘Jeanne Du Barry’ will tell the story of Jeanne Bécu, a woman born into poverty, but who rose to social functions at the court of King Louis XV, and became the monarch’s mistress. Actress and filmmaker Maïwenn will play Jeanne and also direct the feature film, while Johnny Depp will play King Louis XV, also known as “Louis le Bien-Aimé”.

Louis Garrel, Pierre Richard and Noémie Lvovsky make up the cast of the film, which has not yet set a release date on the international scene.

Johnny Depp is in a legal battle with model and actress Amber Heard, the actor’s ex-wife. His latest work to date was the drama “Minamata” which premiered in 2020. Depp claims to be a victim of the so-called “cancel culture”.
