HBO Max recently announced that Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson will join director Chris Columbus and other cast members of the “Harry Potter” franchise for the first twenty-year special of the first film.

However, contrary to popular belief, the author of the literary saga, JK Rowling, will not be appearing at the event, possibly due to his transphobic remarks which made headlines around the world. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rowling will appear in the feature film’s recording archives.

The special retrospective will feature reconstructed sets and interviews and will premiere at midnight on January 1, 2022.

The event will also feature Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch, Ian Hart, among others.

Before that, “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” will have a unique 3D exhibition, in a way never before seen and exclusive to theaters.
