According to Variety, Interplay Entertainment is producing a new animated series based on the famous ‘Jim Minhoca’ games from the 90s.
The project is the result of a partnership with Passion Pictures and APA Studios.
For those who don’t know, the original game was released in 1994 for Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, spawning several sequences, figures, comics, and animation, which aired between 1995 and 1996 on Kids WB.
In an interview with the portal, Michel K. Parandi, producer and president of Interplay, celebrated the development of the attraction.
“I loved playing ‘Jim Minhoca’ when I was a kid. And there is so much potential in the history of this universe: a galaxy full of animals fighting for power. Jim is an earthworm in a universe where Earth is just a myth. His struggle to find meaning is surreal and comical, but it is also understandable and admirable.
Co-producer Aaron Billet also spoke about the importance of putting “Jim Minhoca” back in the spotlight and assured that the cartoon will appeal to fans old and new.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to create a show for an iconic character that we grew up watching on Nintendo games and watching on TV. Fans have matured and deserve a current release, which will also attract new audiences. “
As of yet, there is still no preview for the animation, and it has not been announced on which station it will air.
