Do you want to watch a comedy-drama? Looks like ‘Shrinking’ is the one for you. If you’ve already seen this show, you might be wondering if there will be more humour in the future. And there have been updates.

Shrinking is about a grieving therapist who begins to break the rules by revealing to his clients accurately what he thinks. But there’s a reason for this. Jimmy, the therapist, recently lost his beloved wife, and he is now attempting a fresh approach to his grief.

However, it is unclear whether this will benefit others. The characters and plot of Shrinking were well-received by the audience. Let’s see if there’s going to be another season.

‘Shrinking’ Season 2 Is Happening 

Jimmy has returned with a riches of advice for his clients. The streaming platform AppleTV+ has already renewed the show ‘Shrinking’ for a second season.

The first season received positive reviews, and the renewal of another season is simply a bonus for enthusiasts. Segel, Lawrence, and Goldstein has revealed to sources that they are planning this show to be a three-season arc.

Matt Cherniss, Apple TV+’s head of programming, confirmed the renewal and expressed excitement for the audience to see what comes next in the second season.

He said, “We have loved the engaging, touching, and hilarious world of Shrinking since the beginning, and it has been wonderful to watch as audiences around the world continue to connect with these big-hearted characters.” Cherniss added, “We can’t wait for viewers to experience what the cast and creative team have for season two.”

Shrinking Season 2 Release Date Speculation

The official release date of Shrinking Season 2 is not confirmed. But we can expect it to release in 2024. Before the season premiere, co-creator Segel stated that they wanted the narrative of Shrinking to feel sloppy, sad, funny, confusing, and more. And it’s doing exactly that with the spectators. “We wanted it to feel like life, sloppy and messy and funny and sad and confusing.”

Cabot McMullen talked a little about their idea on the narrative of Shrinking. “All in this case with Shrinking, we wanted it to be grounded in reality. It’s a story about a man who’s in grief and even though it has comedic elements, we didn’t want to take you out of the emotional foundation of the story.

It was decided very early on that we would set this in Pasadena. I don’t recall any show recently that’s been set in Pasadena. You see a lot of shows that are I L.A. or Hollywood or the West Side, But Pasadena became a real character in the story.

Jason Segel, who is an executive producer on the series was involved in many of the creative discussions early on, with James Ponsoldt, our director, the two of them came up with this idea that we’re going to tell a story about a man who’s in the darkness and he emerges out of the darkness after 10 episodes.

So essentially it’s a five-hour movie about a man who we find in his house with all the drapes drawn and he’s not taking care of himself, he’s not taking care of his daughter. Then as the show goes on, things start to open up, physically and emotionally.”
