Throughout the history of cinema, there have been several behind-the-scenes situations that may have changed the course of certain films, such as “The Matrix”, “Iron Man” and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” .

Before Keanu Reeves starred in ‘The Matrix,’ the lead role was offered to Will Smith, and before Robert Downey Jr immortalized Tony Stark in the MCU, the character was almost played by Tom Cruise in the 1990s.

It turns out that the 4th film in the “Indiana Jones” franchise would be written by none other than M. Night Shyamalan (“Glass”).

After the huge success of ‘The Sixth Sense’, Shyamalan sat down with director Steven Spielberg to talk about the script for the sequel, but the idea obviously fell through.

During an interview with Collider, Shyamalan was asked about this and explained why the partnership didn’t happen.

“My God! Meeting Spielberg was fantastic because I’ve always been a huge fan of Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark. To be asked to write a screenplay for a new movie in the franchise was like a dream. came true. ”I almost fainted when I received the proposal.

Although he did not reveal details of the plot, Shyamalan said he still kept the notes he took.

However, he revealed that his script was never used as it was just unrealized ideas.

Enjoy watching:

“I still have my notebooks with all these ideas for the film. I had a chance. I spoke to everyone involved, but I was such a beginner so nothing came of it. They [os produtores] were throwing ideas at me, but we never officially worked with those ideas. I think the biggest problem was that everyone had different ideas and goals for the new movie. What I can say is that my version would be much darker [do que a oficial]. “

Finally, he said that, like in the original trilogy, Jones’ adventure would be motivated by a precious and mysterious artifact.

“Maybe one day I will show the world what is written in these notes. The story would be motivated by the search for a mystical artifact like in other films. But it was just an idea. “

So, would you like to know what adventures Shyamalan has planned for the sequel?

Released in 2008, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” ended up being written by David Koepp and grossed $ 786.6 million worldwide, on a budget of $ 185 million.

Recalling that ‘Indiana Jones 5’ is one of next year’s most anticipated films, the @rosamundpirke account shared on Twitter two new behind-the-scenes photos featuring the character played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (‘Fleabag’ ).

The film will be directed by James Mangold (‘Logan’).

“I’m excited to start a new adventure, working with a dream crew for any director,” Mangold told Deadline.

“When you add Phoebe, a stunning actress with a brilliant creative voice, the chemistry she will no doubt bring to our set, I can’t help but feel as lucky as Indiana Jones himself.”

Recalling that it was Steven Spielberg who decided to pass the torch to a younger filmmaker, in order to bring a renewed perspective to the character.

John Williams will return to the soundtrack, having acted as a songwriter in all previous films.

Pending further updates, ‘Indiana Jones 5’ remains slated for July 29, 2022.
