“So Lillo” has become iconic, with Posaman’s costume and joke ever-ready to the point that he returns to his co-workers’ room during the first season of LOL-Who Laughs Is Out and tries to throw a few more. Thanks to this costume was born Sono Lillo, a series of eight episodes directed by Eros Puglielli, available from January 5 on Prime Video.

To Valerio Cappelli in Corriere della Sera, he explained the evolution of the project from its embryonic stage: “With Greg, we are successful, but I had never had a hyper pop success like this, which appeals to children and the elderly. They asked me for a series of a character that had six poses, a little repertoire of special effects, a twenty-second thing featuring a guy who’s a little there and a little that. Instead, we found a story key. There is my wife played by Sara Lazzaro who is fed up with me and my quirks and leaves me. Friends are unlikely characters that revolve around me. In this bizarre adventure, we’ve created an alternate reality where Testaccio echoes Brooklyn. To tell something true, you have to invent lies and create new worlds”.

In Corriere della Sera, Lillo confided that everything has not always been easy in his life and that his characters have brought them with difficulty to the stage: “I grew up in Tor Pignattara, policeman dad, housewife mother. There was no money to buy me a Batman costume and then I got a crummy little dress borrowed from friends, a prince who didn’t even have a sword. I could only buy one comic a week, and that afternoon was wonderful. I was shy, curious, lonely.”

And then this return to his childhood which makes us understand the character he has become today: “My mother was worried, friends came to visit him with their children at home and she said to me, why not won’t you play together? But I already had my schedule. I had two fictional characters that I created with funny faces looking at myself in the mirror, Pandor telling me where I was wrong, and Pitteride where I was smiling like the Joker, was the downplaying part. From there, I told stories”.
