According to TVLine, Valerie Bertinelli (“One Day at a Time”) will star in “Hungry,” NBC’s eating disorder comedy series.
The actress will play Lisa, the mother of the protagonist Teddy, played by Demi Lovato. The character considers his daughter to be his best friend and is described as “loving, self-critical and an emotional mess.”
The plot will follow a group of friends who suffer from eating disorders. They help each other find love, success, and the perfect fridge snack that will make everything better.
The cast will also include Anna Akana, Alex Brightman, Ashley D. Kelley, Jay Klaitz and Rory O’Malley.
In addition to playing the lead role, Lovato will also be producing the project, alongside Sean Hayes, Todd Milliner, Scooter Braun, Scott Manson and James Shin.
Suzanne Martin, from ‘Will & Grace’ and ‘In the Heat of Cleveland’, will script the series.
