HIT! ‘Sorria’ Surpasses ‘Panic’ and ‘The Black Telephone’ as Highest-Grossing Horror Film of the Year

HIT! After another solid week at the box office, “Sorria” has reached $200 million worldwide, making it the BIGGEST horror movie of the year.

In just over a month, the Paramount Pictures original film managed to surpass the total box office of “Scream” ($140 million) and “The Black Phone” ($159.5 million).

In the United States, the film earned $97 million. In the international market, it was US$103 million.

Paramount’s SMILE continues to kill it internationally – $5.1 million this weekend, $103 million total.

With a budget of just $17 million, horror can already be considered another hit in the genre and, perhaps, the start of a new blockbuster franchise.

Not to mention that the film was originally planned to be released directly in streaming.

After witnessing a traumatic incident involving a patient, Dr. Rose Cotter begins to be haunted by supernatural occurrences she cannot explain. Soon, she must confront her troubled past in order to survive and escape her grim new reality.

The cast includes Sosie Bacon, Kyle Gallner, Rob Morgan, Jessie T. Usher and Caitlin Stasey.
