Sodium bicarbonate: It is a natural “odor eater”, capable of giving a neutral scent to toilets, eliminating bad smells. The ideal would be to boil a pot full of water, pour 4-5 tablespoons of baking soda into it and mix the whole mixture well. The liquid should then be flushed directly into the toilet or sink drain, preferably in the evening, and left to act overnight.

Vinegar: If you don’t have baking soda on hand, you can safely harness the potential of white vinegar, which is perfectly capable of neutralizing odors, disinfecting and sanitizing. You have to boil it in a saucepan, dilute it with a little water and pour it down the drain, taking care not to open the taps and flush the toilet.

Bicarbonate of soda and vinegar together: it is surely an infallible mixture. If the bad odors are particularly intense, the action of baking soda and vinegar can be reinforced by using them together. After boiling the vinegar in a saucepan, pour in a few tablespoons of baking soda and stir for about a minute. This compound will “sizzle” inside the pipes, throwing whatever is in the sewer. However, it is necessary not to let even a drop of water flow into the toilet or sink, so that the liquid has time to go away to eliminate the stench.
