‘Hello Kitty’ movie based on popular character will have ‘Bob’s Burgers’ director

The film based on “Hello Kitty,” the iconic feline character in pop culture, made the announcement of its directorial duo.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer Coyle and Leo Matsuda will be responsible for directing the production, which is being developed by New Line Cinema.

Coyle is best known for her animation work. She was the director and showrunner of DC’s “ Super Hero Girls ”, as well as the director of 19 episodes of the popular adult series “ Bob’s Burgers ”.

Recently, she also worked with a supervising producer for “Haley Quinn“, an HBO Max animation.

Matsuda worked in the animation department of “The Simpsons: The Movie”, “Operation Big Hero”, “Zootopia” and the two feature films of the “Detona Ralph” franchise.

Lindsey Beer will sign the screenplay.

Beer is best known for her work on Netflix’s “Sierra Burgess Is A Loser” romantic comedy, and will be responsible for writing the films “Chaos Walking” and “Silver Saber“.

According to Deadline, the studio has formalized an agreement with the company Sanrio, responsible for the creation of the famous British Gijinka.

It will be the first feature film based on Hello Kitty, which has never been licensed to a major studio outside of Japan.

Further details of the production were not disclosed. It is not yet known whether the film will be animated or live.
