Season 2 Of ‘Harlem’ Is Going To Be Joyous

At the time of the renewal of the second season Oliver said, “When I walked into a bar in Harlem and overheard folks excitedly discussing the show, I knew we had a hit. Harlem has resonated with so many people, and I’m beyond grateful to Amazon for giving it a second season. Most of all, I’m excited to reunite with the beautiful cast.”

Tracy explained, “I would say thematically we leaned into the idea of Black joy. And part of that was because I felt like there was a lot of content that was leaning into Black trauma and Black pain.

I think because of the pandemic, we just were feeling already heavy, and we wanted to kind of have a lightness and use the show as an opportunity to be escapist and fun and soapy and romantic, and just all the stuff that maybe we weren’t experiencing in our real lives, and have the show be kind of cathartic in that way. And fun.”

She added, “Not that it’s like a whole joyous season, but that it’s like the contemplation of having the lack thereof, and then getting to the place of joy.

How do we get to joy, and how do we find, actually, the thing that will make us joyous, even if it’s not the thing that we feel like we should be doing.”

Vernon Sanders, head of global television at Amazon Studios also said, “Culturally relevant, critically acclaimed, and hysterical, Harlem and Tracy Oliver accomplished something very special with the first season of this show.

Tackling real-life strife with levity and laughs, the show means so much to our global Prime Video customers and perfectly fits the types of stories we aim to tell. We look forward to following the Season 2 journey of Camille, Quinn, Angie, and Tye and giving fans more reasons to laugh out loud as they cheer on these four dynamic Black women doing it their way.”

What To Expect From ‘Harlem’ Season 2?

The creator of the show Tracy Oliver also kind of teased what’s coming up next.

She said, “What I would like to see is, What’s the aftermath of this very bold move that Camille makes in the finale? Are they actually going to get together? Is he going to apologize to Mira and still get married? And what does that mean for Jamison, who’s currently in a relationship with Camille?”

She added, “We’re going to see Quinn dating women and what that’s like, and also figuring out her career stuff. We love the idea that (Angie) is a woman who’s finally accepting that, ‘Maybe my dreams are not going to work out the way that I wanted, and I have to get serious and maybe get a real job.”
