Who deserves to win? Renaissance, Beyonce
Once again we have Adele and Beyoncé battling it out in the major award categories and, although Queen B fans won’t want to see the same result as 2017, in which ’25’ won the album of the year against ‘Lemonade’, there is a possibility of this happening. The two artists are the main contenders for the biggest statuette of the night – and ’30’, Adele’s recent production, has been very well received by critics due to its minimalist and personal construction, in addition to having sales boom.
However, it’s been a long time since Bey deserved the award — more specifically, since the release of his self-titled album. With ‘Renaissance’, the artist once again won the favor of the public and critics, in addition to debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 and generating the hit ‘Break My Soul’. Given the Bey’s large and ongoing impact on the music scene, presenting her with the award is just one more way to celebrate her.

As already mentioned, Adele and Beyoncé are the main contenders in the biggest categories of the 2023 Grammys – and, as well as Album of the Year, both are competing in Record of the Year. On the one hand, “Easy On Me”, taken from the album ’30’, brings out the glorious voice of one of the great names of our time, immersed in a melancholic and passionate abandon; on the other, “Break My Soul” from “Renaissance” is a nostalgic ode to house and dance, filled with classic references to the genre in question and an infectious invitation to the dancefloor.
But among the nominees, it’s Doja Cat who deserves the most attention and may even surprise everyone by winning the golden gramophone. With “Woman”, one of the many singles from the acclaimed “Planet Her” album, Doja constructs an absurdly fantastical narrative that migrates from afrobeats to reggae and hip hop, creating a seriously sultry celebration that has dominated playlists. of this year.

The Song of the Year category aims to celebrate, essentially, the composition of a certain track – which puts Adele and Taylor Swift in contention for the statuette. Both have already been nominated for the award in previous editions and are now returning with mature songs that have enjoyed worldwide success. Adele competes for the lead single “Easy On Me” while Swift competes for the ten-minute version of “All Too Well” (a tall order for Academy members, given that both songs were so well received by critics and the public) ).

The Breakthrough Artist category is one of the most anticipated of the evening and constitutes the Big 4 with those mentioned above. And what was our surprise when the bet paid off and Anitta won a deserved nomination. The reason for remembering her, even though she is not a newcomer to the music scene, is quite simple: she became the first Latin artist to reach the top of Spotify in the world with the hit “Envolver”. , building on an enviable successful career beyond the national stage. territory – and is one of the favorites to win the award.
However, Anitta faced considerable competition, mainly from the Italian hard rock band Måneskin, who also made a big splash both in the United States and around the world.
