Now that we’re approaching the end of the eligibility period, which runs until August 31, it’s natural to think about who should be nominated for the event’s hottest categories – and there are several names that should and deserve to appear, including Beyoncé. , Adele and Kendrick Lamar.

Beyoncé is one of the oldest artists in the contemporary music industry – and should have won the best Grammy statuette already in 2013. However, Queen B never quite pulled off the feat, but could be about to win album of the year. with ‘Renaissance’, which became a critical and commercial success (and this award would only cement his significant mainstream representation).

Even so, other acts must be considered in the list, having a high chance of being taken. We have Adele with her equally acclaimed ’30’ comeback; Kendrick Lamar with the amazing ‘Mr. Morales & The Big Steppers’, which could avenge its inexplicable loss at the 2016 awards; ROSALÍA has a great chance of being nominated for Album of the Year for the first time with ‘MOTOMAMI’, just as Bruno Mars may be awarded another statuette in the category with ‘Leave the Door Open’, performed at alongside Anderson Paak. with the act of Silk Sonic (which wouldn’t be surprising, considering that this year they were awarded Record of the Year and Song of the Year for the title track).

The biggest doubt, however, rests with The Weeknd. For those who don’t remember, the artist was snubbed at the 2021 Grammys and was not recalled in any of the categories – which caused widespread commotion in the audience and led him to say he would no longer submit any production for the event (even though ‘Dawn FM’ not only deserves the nominations, but the awards). Additionally, Taylor Swift could land her sixth nomination in the category with ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’, while the soundtrack to ‘Encanto’ could become the first animated film album to make the list.

POSSIBLE APPEARANCES

Once again, artists nominated for Album of the Year are likely to earn nominations in the other major categories – which involves Beyoncé’s ‘Break My Soul’, Adele’s ‘Easy On Me’ and ‘As It Was”, by Harry Styles, as the favorites to remember in the song of the year. All three songs topped the Billboard Hot 100 to critical acclaim — and that makes it hard to know who can win the statuette.

“N95”, by Kendrick Lamar, “Moscow Mule”, by Bad Bunny, and “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”, from the “Encanto” soundtrack (and which, in this case, would include Lin-Manuel Miranda) also have a good chance of being nominated. As for possible appearances, we can’t rule out ROSALÍA’s appearances with ‘MOTOMAMI”s acclaimed single, “Saoko”; Lady Gaga with the impeccable arena-rock of “Hold My Hand”, from the movie “Top Gun: Maverick”; and Taylor Swift with the ten-minute reissue of ‘All Too Well’ from ‘Red (Taylor’s Version).

While Song of the Year honors the best compositions, Record of the Year encompasses the artist themselves and the production of a given track. Because of this, countless performers have an equal chance of winning the statuette – and in that regard, Beyoncé once again stands as one of the favorites to earn a nomination and possibly win the award with “Break My Drunk”. Again, Adele also proves to be a strong contender with ‘Easy On Me’, while Taylor Swift can land her fifth nomination in the ‘All Too Well (10 Minute Version)’ category.

Lady Gaga may also appear in the category with “Hold My Hand,” whose 80s arena-rock structure has been highly praised by critics, joining her with Benjamin Rice and BloodPop in producing the track. And, surprisingly, former Disney Channel star Dove Cameron also has a shot at earning a nomination with the release of “Boyfriend,” which even made our list of top songs of 2022 so far.

The Breakthrough Artist category is always one of the hardest to predict – after all, new talent is popping up on the music scene all the time and can make for unexpected critical and commercial success. In the list we’ve separated, GAYLE is one of the most likely to be remembered – after all, she made a huge splash with “abcdefu”, reaching #3 on the Hot 100; Dove Cameron, who has gained prominence in the industry, could also appear (although she is not considered a new artist, as she has already made other breakthroughs).

Latto is also nominated, as he won the same award at the BET Awards in June this year – and his song, “Big Energy”, took third place on the Hot 100. And the group known as The Linda Lindas made quite an impact with the release of “Racist, Sexist Boy,” which won Best Punk Recording at the Libera Awards, also in June.
