This afternoon, Giorgia Meloni and Silvio Berlusconi will meet to find an agreement, after the vote for the presidency of the Senate in recent days.
The leader of the Brothers of Italy responds to statements from the centre-left, according to which the centre-right is already divided: “Put your soul in peace: we are here to revive our nation”.
After a series of telephone contacts with Berlusconi, it seems that the conditions are in place for a truce, which could be sanctioned today, Monday October 17, at 4 p.m., in the offices of the Brothers of Italy via della Scrofa.
Government: a relaxed atmosphere thanks to Gianni Letta and La Russa
The atmosphere was relaxed thanks to the intermediation of Gianni Letta, who went to Arcore yesterday and thanks to the President of the Senate Ignazio La Russa. However, the ministries are always at the center of the discussion.
The Division of Ministries
The drop point at the end can be located in Justice. Meloni is thinking of Carlo Nordio for this department but according to some rumours, there would be room for negotiation. Alternatively, Berlusconi would be ready to propose the Interior, with a leading figure, or the Mise, which is nevertheless one of the key ministries for the Prime Minister in pectore. Eventually, Forza Italia would ask for an additional ministry from those of the Lega.
The departments so far attributable to Forza Italia would be Foreign Affairs (for Antonio Tajani) and three others. In any case, the outcome of the negotiations will then have to agree with the demands of the League, which apparently does not want to give up the Ministry of the Interior and would have secured the MEF with Giancarlo Giorgetti (unless the choice of Fabio Panetta is not used).
Government, Meloni responds to the center left
“Let them rest their souls: we are here to revive our nation. It will be a bumpy road, but we will do our best. Never give up,” Meloni wrote criticizing the “broken attacks from the left, a real insult to the citizens who have chosen who to represent”.
