According to Variety, “Gaslit,” a new series starring Oscar winner Julia Roberts, has won the green light from STARZ.
The anthology is based on Slate magazine’s acclaimed and award-winning “ Slow Burn ” podcast and revolves around the Watergate scandal.
The first season revolves around the role of Martha Mitchell (Roberts) in uncovering the controversies over the affair that resulted in President Richard Nixon’s resignation. Sean Penn will give life to John, Martha’s husband and Nixon’s ex-boyfriend.
Robbie Pickering (“Mr. Robot“) joins as showrunner and executive producer. Matt Ross (“Captain Fantastic“) will be the director of the episodes.
Armie Hammer and Joel Edgerton were linked to the project last year, but both left the cast.
