Editor Renato Marafon interviewed star Gael Garcia Bernal, who stars in ‘Werewolf by Night’ – Marvel’s Halloween special is available now on Disney+.

In the interview, Gael revealed that the project was the most different he had ever done in his life:

“One of the main reasons I joined the project was that it was unlike anything I had ever done. Moreover, I had the opportunity to work with Michael Giacchino. I met him briefly
in ‘Viva – Vida é uma Festa’. His proposal for this project was very tempting and full of emotion. And also a bit crazy. He invited me to a project where we could try new things. I found that very encouraging. It immediately attracted me. So, little by little, I started to learn more about this universe. I have read and researched werewolves. I learned the history of these hybrid beasts, which exist globally in many cultures. It was fascinating to see the similarities in each culture and what these monsters represent. I was drawn to the fact that the monsters had more humanity than most other characters.

“Werewolf by Night” is the alter-ego of two different Marvel characters. The first is Jack Russell in 1970, and more recently a new character named Jack Gomez.

Jack Russell is a descendant of the mystically altered human offshoot known as the Lycanthropes. During the night of the full moon and the two nights around it, he is forced to transform into a werewolf, a large and powerful form that is a hybrid of human and wolf, and loses his human intellect. Through a series of events, he is also able to voluntarily mutate outside of the full moon, at which time he retains control.

It’s worth remembering that, in issue 32 of Werewolf by Night, we had the first appearance of the “Moon Knight”, a Marvel character who will star in his own Marvel series on Disney+.
