“Friday the 13th”: The legal battle comes to an END; Will we have a new movie?

The legal battle for the rights of the film ‘Friday the 13th’ is finally over! According to attorney Larry Zerner, screenwriter Victor Miller won the lawsuit and currently owns the script rights to the original feature film (US only).

What does this mean for the future of the franchise and Jason Voorhees? Could a new movie be released soon? Not really.

Victor only has the rights to the script of the first film, only in the United States. And while Sean has the rights to iconic adult Jason in the hockey mask, he cannot legally use it in a movie without Victor’s permission, ”the lawyer reveals.

In the end, it is almost impossible to develop a new film in the “Friday the 13” franchise without both parties reaching an agreement, because of this divide in the rights of the saga.

The expectation is that Victor and Sean reach a consensus, following together, for the development of a new film.
