In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, producer Fede Álvarez (“Death of the Devil”) commented on the puzzling timeline of the “The Chainsaw Massacre” franchise, explaining where the new film will fit in terms of continuity.
“When I say the new movie is a ‘direct sequel’ to the original, I’m not excluding anything. When the movies do that, I feel like it’s a little disrespectful to the other sequels in the franchise. Some people love ‘The Chainsaw Massacre 2’. I like a lot of elements of this film.
He adds, “But the franchise timeline is a disaster. I think it’s up to the audience to decide when and how the events of the other films unfold.
Keep in mind that the new movie opens on Netflix on February 18, 2022.
