“Father Stu”: Mark Wahlberg looks unrecognizable in the new footage; Check!

Filming for the drama ‘Father Stu’ is officially over, but two recent behind-the-scenes footage has been shared that reveal details about star Mark Wahlberg’s big transformation to play the role.

In the photos, the protagonist appears considerably overweight between recordings. It is important to note that he got to gain more than 13 kilos to live the eponymous character.

In the plot written by Wahlberg in partnership with first director Rosalind Ross, he will give life to a boxer who decides to exchange the rings for the cassock, dedicating himself to the life of a priest.

Slightly inspired by the story of ex-boxer Stuart Long, the production will follow his retirement from the ring after a motorcycle accident that nearly killed him and led him to religious life.

Mel Gibson, Teresa Ruiz (‘Narcos: Mexico’), Jacki Weaver (‘Bloom’), Niko Nicotera (‘Good Girls’) and Chiquita Fuller (‘9-1-1’) round out the cast.

As of yet, there is still no premiere date.
