Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore | The best moments of the first trailer of the sequel

Warner Bros. gave a gift to all fans of the magical universe created by JK Rowling and presented the official trailer for ‘Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secrets’, the third chapter of the eponymous franchise.

Bringing us back to the war between good and evil, the plot follows Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law), a young professor who knows that the mighty dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen) is taking control of the wizarding world. Unable to stop him on his own, he asks magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to lead a fearless team of wizards, witches and a brave Muggle baker on a dangerous mission, in which they encounter fantastic animals old and new and conflict with the growing legion of Grindelwald supporters. But with so many threats, how long can Dumbledore stay on the sidelines of the clash?

With so much information on the plot and what to expect from the feature film, CinePOP has prepared a short list of the highlights of the trailer – and the points we need to pay attention to.

To verify:

In the “Harry Potter” franchise, specifically in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2”, audiences were finally introduced to Aberforth Dumbledore, brother of the iconic and powerful wizard Albus Dumbledore. In “Fantastic Beasts”, not only will Law reprise his role as Target, but also reintroduce Aberforth as Richard Coyle (known for his role in the series “The Dark World of Sabrina”). Knowing their history – which always dates back to the tragic death of Ariana, the trio’s younger sister – it is highly likely that Albus’ arc revolves around this complex sibling relationship.

Unlike the first film, “Dumbledore’s Secrets” seems to transfer the essence of the tale, centered on mythological animals, to the clash between good and evil – in fact, between Dumbledore and Grindelwald. From the first few minutes, Albus finds himself drawn alongside Newt and other well-known characters from the franchise in a war that has just begun and portends a powder keg about to explode. While we get a taste of this conflict in ‘The Crimes of Grindelwald’, it is only now that we have had more explorations of the character relationship and the deconstruction of the Manichaeanism of who is a hero and who is a villain.

In the face of so much family controversy, Johnny Depp was pulled from the upcoming “Fantastic Beasts” movies. The problem? Depp played the great antagonist of the new saga, Gellert Grindelwald. Fortunately, Warner and the executive producers have found a perfect (and much more concise, by the way) replacement to play him: acclaimed actor Mads Mikkelsen. Departing in many ways from the antics that Depp incorporated into his long predecessors, Mikkelsen crafted his own identity, full of wickedness and charm.

Ahead of the official release of the first promotional material, there were plenty of addition to the cast of “Fantastic Beasts 3” – including a rather surprising name. According to countless reports and even the IMDb page itself, the incredible Maria Fernanda Candido will bring the director of Castelobruxo, a former school of magic located in Brazil, to life. And, in the trailer, we got an official preview of the institute, as you can see above.

At the start of the opening footage of the trailer, we’re introduced to a new team who will join forces to defeat Grindelwald and his ambitious plan to wreak havoc on the world – and the group is made up of never-before-seen faces as well as very familiar characters. faces. In addition to Scamander (Redmayne) and Jacob (Dan Fogler), the team is formed by Theseus Scamander (Callum Turner), Newt’s older brother and devoted official in the British Ministry of Magic; Yusuf Kama (William Nadylam), a Franco-Senegalese wizard who attempted to kill Credence (Ezra Miller); Lally Hicks (Jessica Williams), professor at the Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry; and Bunty (Victoria Yates), Newt’s staunch assistant.

One of the trailer’s most unexpected moments happened when Newt handed Jacob a wand – who, although he had helped him since the franchise’s first feature film, is still a Muggle and therefore has no magic ability. We still don’t know what that means, but the dialogues indicate that Albus himself gave Jacob the object to keep him armed during possible conflicts. Right at the end of the video, the character played by Fogler appears holding his wand and extremely excited to get to know the Wizarding World.

In a certain sequence, Albus uses his powers to lift some sort of secret room from the ground, causing Jacob to wonder what it is. Shortly after, Newt comments, “the room we need”, referring to the room on demand, which first appeared in “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”. Apparently the site in question is older than we imagined and now we can see it being used by Albus and his allies.

While there weren’t many aftershocks, Ezra Miller, reprising his struggling Credence Barebone / Aurelius Dumbledore role, confronts Albus not once, but twice in just over two minutes of video. It is possible that this constant conflict was due to the fact that they are brothers, and Credence, fanned by Grindelwald’s evil spell, realized that he had to defeat him if he was to retain the new power that had him. been given.

When Newt and Theseus enter a mysterious cave, they come face to face with a monstrous creature – we still don’t know what it is. However, given that this animal has a scorpion tail, a roar that resonates familiarly with a lion, and a grand stature, it is almost automatic to understand that the two will face a manticore. In the brief book that inspired the film saga, the manticore is described as a very dangerous creature with a human head, lion body and scorpion tail, with skin that repels almost all spells and with lethal force.

Right at the end of the trailer, Albus turns to Newt and says the following line, “Okay, three points for Hufflepuff. The wise choice of script, courtesy of Rowling and Steve Kloves, hints at Dumbledore’s unique personality in awarding… well, virtually anyone. The dialogue even pays homage to the various times he gave Harry points in the original franchise.

Recalling that the film will be released on April 7, 2022.
