Fan Theory Predicts Who Should Die in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3’

Scheduled for release on May 5, 2023, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 is definitely one of the most anticipated films of the next year. The feature is set to mark the farewell of some of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most beloved characters and also that of director, producer and screenwriter James Gunn, who took these not-so-famous characters and turned them into true Pop icons. Culture. That’s because Gunn, who impressed Warner execs with his bloodthirsty, politically incorrect take on The Suicide Squad (2021), so much that the studio invited him to direct as DC’s new co-CEO. Studios, responsible for planning upcoming DC movies and series, more or less what Kevin Feige does at Marvel.

In several press conferences, the director stated that Guardians 3 will be the end of the saga of the original formation of the Guardians of the Galaxy, which in major franchises usually means the death of certain characters or even the whole group. . After all, superheroes don’t retire, do they?

To back up that idea, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn promised a movie that was far bigger and more moving than anything seen in the franchise so far. “This film is much bigger than the previous two. And it’s a much more moving film than the other two. And it’s a longer film than the other two. It’s bigger in every way,” he said.

Well, in the face of so much promise, some fans have come up with a theory that supposedly points to who will be the primary victim of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3. They noticed that the logo from previous films had different colors. And while watching the films, they noticed that the main characters who died throughout the stories had the same colors as their respective logos. Check:

Take the time to watch:

The first movie’s logo is this kind of woodsy color, which looks like a matte cream or dark gold. And the defining death of the feature film is precisely that of the humanoid tree, Groot (Vin Diesel), who sacrifices himself to save his friends in one of the franchise’s most emotional scenes, and speaks a word for the first time. different from its limited vocabulary: We. Are. Groot.

The scene was beautifully handled, making millions of viewers around the world emotional for a character they had just met, proving that James Gunn managed to bond fans and characters in one movie, something quite unusual in this superhero milieu.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 logo featured mostly blue, red, and yellow colors in its composition. The same color scheme as the leader of the Marauders, Yondu Udonta (Michael Rooker), who has blue skin, red crest and jacket, and wears the yellow Marauders emblem, which will eventually become the symbol of the Guardians of the Galaxy . .

Coincidentally or not, it’s Yondu himself who kicks the bucket at the end of the film, in one of the most dramatic scenes in the entire MCU, culminating in this onion-chopping sequence. space funerals to the sound of Father and Son. Interestingly, Yondu was one of the characters that took on greater prominence in this sequel and had much more development than in the previous chapter.

And now, with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3, Marvel has released three logos over the past few years.

The first version of him came with the colors green and purple, attributed to Gamora (Zoe Saldana), who died in Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and whose 2014 alternate version was brought to the present day there in Avengers : Ultimatum (2019), ending the film by fleeing to an unknown location.

Gamora must be a central element of the plot of this third film, because Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) knows that his beloved is there and must do everything to find her.

Launched in 2021, the second production logo featured mostly gray, orange, and yellow colors in its composition. Some fans see the gray color as a sign that the beefy Drax the Destroyer might kick some ass in this final chapter.

What supports this theory is that the actor who plays the character, Dave Bautista, had a fight with Marvel – at the time James Gunn was fired for the bad taste tweets made over a decade ago. — and cursed Disney and its executives like there was no tomorrow. Moreover, he has already commented on the networks that Guardians 3 marks the end of his contract with Marvel and that he will not be renewing it.

Finally, the movie’s final logo was released this year in brown, black, and orange. Colors that directly reference one of the most beloved characters not only in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, but in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe: the big-mouthed Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper).

In an interview with Deadline, director James Gunn revealed that Rocket was the reason he returned to end the Guardians arc at Marvel, instead of just leaving for DC. Gunn declares his love for this character from the first film, when he defines him as the soul of the original feature film.

“The reason I needed to finish [a franquia dos Guardiões] it’s because I love Rocket more than any character I’ve worked with before. I needed to wrap up his story and Volume 3 is about that,” he said. “I needed to do it, and I think we did it in such a spectacular way that I can’t wait for people to see it.”

The movie should delve a bit deeper into the dark origins of Rocket, who always referenced trauma when he needed to talk about his past. Additionally, Gunn has previously said he was inspired by his beloved doggo to bring Rocket to the screen. And sadly, James Gunn’s puppy died during filming, so there should be a tribute during the film.

So who do you think will die in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3? Say it in the comments. Next Friday (25), the Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas special will air on Disney+, but despite the green and red colors, we don’t think anyone will die. But that’s it: with James Gunn at the helm, you never know, do you?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 opens on May 5, 2023.
