The first episode of “Hawk and the Winter Soldier” shows that Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) is reluctant to accept his role as the next Captain America.
The plot therefore ends with the government choosing someone else to take over: John Walker, played by Wyatt Russell.
The character is introduced at a press conference, wielding Steve Rogers’ iconic shield and sporting a new version of his costume.
Although it was a brief moment, it was enough to arouse public hatred.
On social networks, some Internet users insisted on expressing their disappointment with the scene.

In Marvel Comics, John Walker is also known as the American Agent and is a corrupt version of Captain America.
Controlled by the US government, Walker was previously trained by the Taskmaster and has the same skills as Steve Rogers, which makes him a powerful foe.
However, it is not yet clear how he will be adapted in the series.
But showrunner Michael Spellman spoke to Polygon and said he could have a very different role than fans imagine.
“The central theme of the show is the search for an identity … Fans have seen how confused Bucky (Sebastian Stan) feels about himself, but there’s another guy who often points out question his own actions and his name is John Walker. “
He continued:
“Some see themselves as vigilantes, in the case of Zemo (Daniel Bruhl), but heroes also see themselves as pawns, and this is where we find Walker. He’s a war veteran who has done everything for his country, but has no one to help him collect his coins, and that bothers his head. What does it look like to be used and feel disposable? it’s something we play around with a bit.
Apparently, the character will not initially be treated as a villain, but as a hero. Despite this, Spellman’s statement suggests he will become an antihero or even a villain.
Unless it is redeemed over the episodes.

Recalling that the episodes will be broadcast every week on Disney +.
