Blue Beetle has been one of the first forays of DC into the Latino space by having a Latin American superhero and an entire cast filled with prominent Latino actors. The film, directed by Angel Manuel Soto, follows our protagonist Jaime Reyes as he grows up and explores his Mexican heritage.

Blue Beetle/Jaime Reyes Played By Xolo Maridueña

The talented actor playing the main role in this movie, Xolo has earned his fame through his Cobra Kai debut and was under a lot of pressure as he was set to play the first Latino superhero in such a big franchise.

One of the original superheroes in the DC Comics canon is Blue Beetle, who made his debut in Mystery Men Comics #1 back in 1939. Jaime Reyes, who happens to be the main character in this movie, is the third Blue Beetle. Fresh out of college and living in Palmera City with his family, Jaime is searching for work. His quest leads him to Kord Industries, where he meets the sentient Scarab who decides to bond with him and transform him into the Blue Beetle.

Khaji-Da Played By Becky G

Khaji-da is an interesting character, and the second lead of the movie is played by the amazing Becky G. She brings character to the AI voice. Although known for her musical talent, especially after releasing the hit albums Mala Santa’ and ‘Esquemas’, she also has acted in several roles, mainly that of Yellow Power Ranger.

Now as for the character, the voice of the scarab, an artificial intelligence developed by the interplanetary invading aliens known as Reach, is Khaji-Da. It affixes itself to Jaime Reyes and bestows on him the abilities of the Blue Beetle. In addition to giving him power over his body, Khaji-Da also grants him the capacity to summon any kind of weapon he can think of.

Jenny Kord Played By Bruna Marquezine

The talented actress has been a household name in Brazil and has displayed quite the talent as an actor playing Jenny Kord. As a young actress, Bruna Marquezine debuted in several children’s TV series and telenovelas, such as Mulheres Apaixonadas, América, and Em Familia. In addition to being a well-known supermodel and frequent participant in fashion events like New York Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week, Bruna Marquezine is well-known in Brazil.

Jenny Kord is the daughter of the former Blue Beetle, Ted Kord, the founder of Kord Industries where our beloved hero has found himself working. Jaime’s love interest, Jenny Kord, is a unique character made for the movie. Jenny is the one who transformed Jaime into the Blue Beetle and helped him discover the source of his new abilities.

Victoria Kord Played By Susan Sarandon

Susan Sarandon is a highly talented member, and as an Academy Award winner and 5 times Oscar-nominated actress, she brings a beautiful mastery to the role. She has appeared in films such as The Client, Dead Man Walking, Thelma and Louise, Lorenzo’s Oil, and Atlantic City. She is currently starring in her first comic book movie role, in Blue Beetle.

Victoria Kord is also a made-for-movie character, being the older sister of Ted Kord. Victoria wants to use the scarab’s power to build lethal weapons and take over the world, but once the scarab escapes her grasp and lands in Jaime’s lap, she will do everything it takes to get it back.

Uncle Rudy Played By George Lopez

George Lopez is a well-known actor, praised for his The George Lopez Show on ABC, and other stand-up specials in which he discusses his Latin American culture. Over the years, he has also made appearances in several TV episodes and motion pictures, such as Real Women Have Curves and The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3-D.

He now plays the role of Uncle Rudy, Jaime’s uncle and a master of technology. With his homemade technology and his insider knowledge of Ted Kord’s devices, he assists Jaime, but it’s his astute and witty one-liners, expertly delivered by George Lopez, that make him the comic relief and beloved character.

Milagro Reyes Played By Belissa Escobedo

Belissa Escobedo, known for her roles in Hocus Pocus 2, American Horror Story, and The Baker and the Beauty, is playing the role of Milagro Reyes, Jamie’s sister. Her talent is visible in this role.

Milagro is on her brother’s side the entire time. Milagro collaborates with her brother at the Kord family’s villa to keep their house from being taken away since she has faith in him. The character is outspoken, sarcastic, intelligent, and unafraid to confront others’ biases.

Conrad Carapax Played By Raoul Max Trujillo

Who is better to play the muscle and power-filled secondary villain, than the man who plays his roles quite well? We’re talking about Zero Wolf, the ruthless Mayan slave catcher in Apocalypto. Raoul has appeared in several movies and TV shows like Sicario, Riddick, and Banshee, and has quite the acting chops.

Victoria Kord requires someone to put Blue Beetle through physical challenges and barriers that demand for scenes of action to be solved. Carapax, a legendary Blue Beetle antagonist from the comics who is sometimes referred to as The Indestructible Man, plays Victoria Kord’s enforcer in the movie and faces Jaime in the final act. All this is quite thrilling to watch and enjoy.

Nana Played By Adriana Barraza

The beloved grandma of the Reyes household is being played by Adriana Barraza, and she has the experience to bring her to life. Known for her roles in shows such as Alejandro González Iñárittu’s Babel and Amores Perros, Adriana is very much a respected veteran actress.

She plays the Mexican grandma; with all the character quirks it entails. When the situation calls for it, Nana may be the most sly and ferocious person imaginable, but she also has Jaime’s back no matter what. As shown in the teaser, Nana even gets to participate in the action, utilizing her background as a rebel to fire a machine gun.

Rocio Reyes Played By Elpidia Carrillo

Elpida Carrillo played the role of Jamie’s mother, who is rightfully worried about her attached to a deadly scarab son, and also in grave danger. She is like any typical Mexican mom and isn’t above scolding her son in that worried mother’s way of hers.

Elpidia has brought the character to life. With a lengthy career spanning from Salvador to Predator 2, Elpidia has acted in several well-known films. Most recently, she played Sonia Perez in the critically acclaimed adolescent drama Euphoria.

The rest of the talented cast of Blue Beetle includes Damián Alcázar as Roberto Reyes, who is Jamie’s father and Harvey Guillén as Dr Sanchez, who is working for the Kords, despite where his love is.
