Excited about Karen Pirie season 2? We are too! Karen Pirie is a show based on Val McDermid’s novel The Distant Echo, covered in three parts. The series has been immensely praised by the audience and critics. In the show, Karen is a refreshingly ordinary and endearingly unfashionable young lady.

While she is not a slick or outspoken cop, her quick wit and smartness make her a great investigator. Karen is charged with resuming an investigation into a murder that has been the topic of a provocative true crime podcast after being promoted to Police Scotland’s Historic Cases Unit. 

When Rosie Duff, a teenage barmaid, was stabbed to death in 1995, three drunken students discovered her body. Despite the officers’ suspicions, the lads were never charged. It has been confirmed that Karen Pirie will be getting a second season. This news came from the showrunners and the lead actress. 

Lauren Lyle confirmed, “I’m thrilled that we will continue the life of our fearless young detective Karen Pirie, and of course, her bumbag. I’ve known for a while how well the show has gone down behind the scenes so it’s been a joy to see audiences want more. 

It’s a creative honor to work alongside Emer Kenny with the backbone of Val McDermid’s story. Season 1 was incredibly exciting building an original character we hadn’t seen before. I look forward to getting the gang back together and finally being able to answer the question: ‘Please say there will be a season 2?’ with an ‘Oh yes.'”

The season will start filming in Scotland in 2024, so we can expect a little time before the new season releases. We can expect the new season to be released by 2025. However, it would be worth the wait!

What To Expect From Karen Pirie Season 2?

Karen Pirie season 2 will most likely focus on the adaptation of the book A Darker Domain. One of the many books based on the brilliant detective. The book summary reads, “25 years ago, a woman and her baby son were kidnapped and held for ransom.

Catriona Grant ended up dead and little Adam’s fate has remained a mystery ever since. When a new clue is discovered in a deserted Tuscan villa – along with grisly evidence of a recent murder – cold case expert DI Karen Pirie is assigned to follow the trail.
