Perry, Della, and Paul brace themselves for the murder trial of the century.
If you’ve been waiting for Perry Mason season 2 to come out, you’ll be happy to know that it’s already here. The cinematography, production design, and performances of its crew, especially Rhys, have received positive feedback from spectators.
The plot follows the life of famous defense attorney Perry Mason. For nearly three years, enthusiasts have been anticipating the release of the second season. The second season returns with a new case and a lot of mystery in store for the audience.
It appears that the wait will be worthwhile. Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of HBO Programming said, “Viewers have relished being transported back in time to 1930s Los Angeles each week, and we are thrilled to welcome the show back for a second season.”
Season two of Perry Mason will premiere on March 6, 2023. The season consists of eight episodes. If you’re curious about what the second season will be about, the streaming platform HBO has already released an official synopsis.
The official synopsis of the second season reads, “Based on the work of Erle Stanley Gardner, this drama series traces the origins of famed criminal defense lawyer Perry Mason [Matthew Rhys].
The second season picks up with Perry in the throes of the Los Angeles legal system during the height of the Great Depression. Alongside crackerjack assistant Della Street [Juliet Rylance] and hardboiled ex-cop Paul Drake [Chris Chalk], the former PI garners a reputation for taking on clients that few would dare to defend.
Months after the Dodson trial shook the city, Perry is readjusting to life as a civil attorney when a high-profile murder case brings him back into the fold.
As the DA homes in on a pair of brothers from a desolate Hooverville, Perry is thrust into the center of a vast conspiracy and forced to reckon with what it truly means to be guilty.”

Begler said in an interview regarding the premiere of season two, “Well, I would say first and foremost that we always start with our characters. That comes first. Where are we going to put Perry? Where are we going to put Della and Paul?
And then it’s just through all the research that we do [to decide what historical events to add in], which is so fun, as you can imagine. The good and the bad are there’s just so much.
You have to pick and choose which things will organically work as we build out the mystery and we build out the court case, these are going to be those things that we get to combine. But again, first and foremost, we want to make sure that it isn’t just about the city. It is about our three mains.”
Downey added, “And we surround ourselves with incredible experts of the time. We have consultants, whether it’s an L.A. historian, a legal historian, or someone who was an expert in the Mexican community. We are always trying to make sure that we create something very authentic.”
