Emma Watson pays tribute to Robbie Coltrane: “It was a pleasure to play Hermione”
Star Emma Watson has paid tribute to the late Robbie Coltrane, famous for playing Hagrid in the ‘Harry Potter’ saga. Actor died today in a hospital in Scotland, aged 72.
“Robbie was like the funniest uncle I’ve ever had, but other than that he was deeply affectionate. He was kind to me as a child and as an adult. His talent was so immense it made sense for him to play a giant – with his genius he would go anywhere,” Emma said in an Instagram Story.
“I want to be as nice as Coltrane. There hasn’t been a better Hagrid. It was a pleasure to play Hermione.”

Daniel Radcliffe, the main name in the “Harry Potter” saga, also paid tribute to the actor:
“Robbie was one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. He always made us laugh on set when we were kids. I have fond memories of him cheering us on on the set of Prisoner of Azkaban. , when we were all soaked in the rain in Hagrid’s hut. He was always telling stories and jokes. I feel incredibly lucky to have known and worked with him, and very saddened by his passing. He was an actor amazing and a lovely man.
Coltrane played Hogwarts guard Rubeus Hagrid in the “Harry Potter” series. He enjoyed enormous popularity behind the role of half-giant half-wizard.
Robbie also rose to fame in 1995 with the movie ‘007 – Against Goldeneye’ and in 1999 in the movie ‘007 – The World Is Not Enough’ where he played mob boss Valentin Zukovsky.
In 2006, Robbie received an honor from Queen Elizabeth II for his contribution to British cinema.
Coltrane memorably conquered the television screen as forensic psychologist Dr. Edward ‘Fitz’ Coltrane in the television murder drama Cracker, for which he won three consecutive Best Actor BAFTA awards, a honor matched only by another actor, Michael Gambon.
His last work as an actor was playing Orson Welles in the series ‘Urban Myths’, in episodes released in 2019 and 2020.
