Starring Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson, “Explosive Double” was released in 2017 and became a huge hit, raising $ 176.6 million worldwide on a budget of $ 30 million.

However, the sequel which debuts in the US tomorrow was sparked by critics, racking up a meager 31% ordeal in Rotten Tomatoes.

Still, director Patrick Hughes told Comic Book he’s already planning a sequel.

The filmmaker also revealed that he already has a new star to cast in the 3rd film, just as Salma Hayek was chosen for the 2nd.

“I can’t talk too much about [o terceiro filme], but I’m already planning the plot. I’m already thinking about the next star to join the team, but I won’t say who it is because that would already reveal the meaning of the story.

When asked if he could revive an actor or actress to participate in the sequel, Hughes was quick to respond:

“John Candy (” Forgot me “), I would be very happy to work with him. “

For those who don’t know, Candy suffered cardiac arrest while filming her latest movie, ‘Jamaica Below Zero’, and eventually passed away.

Upon its release, the feature film grossed an astounding $ 154 million worldwide. Budgeted at just $ 13 million, it became the highest grossing title of Candy’s career.

Remember that ‘Dupla Explosiva 2’ has not yet its premiere in national cinemas.

“It’s very, very difficult to develop real hatred for a stupid action movie in which Antonio Banderas plays a psychopathic billionaire named Aristotle Papadopolous.”, David Ehrlich – indieWire

“The occasional laugh drowns in a sea of action comedy tropes that have been obsolete for decades. These actors deserve much better, and their fans too. John DeFore – Hollywood Reporter

“What we get is maybe the antithesis of fun – the existential fear of knowing that a movie isn’t working and no one is doing anything that seems important and that it still takes about an hour before it’s all over. . “, Alonso Duralde, TheWrap.

“Aggressively irritating and will make anyone want to turn down the volume in a real theater, even if it’s the first time in over a year”, Robert Kojder.

“It’s an accidental sequel that forgets it’s a sequel, repeating the same narrative rhythms and retroactively shortening its characters.”, Scott Mendelson – Forbes.
