How the documentary was born
It is the story of a director father (Graziano Capelli) who, year after year, documents the sporting rise of his son. This son who will become a star of Formula 1. Thanks to the fascinating reinterpretation of Gionata Zanetta, Swiss author and illustrator, these pictures are transformed into a film: Natural born driver – The incredible story of Ivan Capelli. The documentary was born from a meeting between Capelli and Zanetta in Lugano. The two find themselves examining the pictures taken by the father of the former pilot: a real treasure. The idea is then to rework everything and bring it up to date with a mixed technique that combines plans and animated illustrations. A set of moving watercolors and historical archive photos.
