Earlier this year, Showtime brought back legendary serial killer Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) and his Dark Passenger for a cover called “Dexter: New Blood.”
The series sees the character living under a new identity in a small town in upstate New York nearly a decade after the events of the original series.
After going a decade without killing, he relapses and his son shows up on his doorstep to make things even more complicated.
The revival was thought to be the show’s definitive conclusion, but Showtime may order new seasons.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, network president David Nevins said the following:
Have fun watching:
“There are a lot of things I’m working on. I don’t want to mention specific things until they are finished. I get asked a lot about the future of the ‘Dexter’ franchise. I can only say that I am actively working on it.
Additionally, fan page Dissecting Dexter also revealed that Nevins is planning a revival of the franchise.
“Showtime chairman David Nevins said earlier on Sky News that ‘Dexter: New Blood’ was a huge hit and he thinks it’s the ‘rebirth of the franchise’. So… Is- Is there more Dexterverse on the way?” reads the post.
Check:
Showtime boss David Nevins on Sky News just now. Saying New Blood was hugely successful and thinking it’s the “renaissance of the franchise”. So… more Dexterverse to come? #dexter

A few months ago, Hall spoke to the Lipps Service podcast and commented on possible post-recovery continuity. Although he declares that nothing is impossible, the actor does not believe that he will reconsider the character.
“I learned to say never say never about anything, but the show ended pretty much permanently with the revival. I have no plans to play that character again. I’m proud of the whole journey and I’m glad to have the opportunity to revisit the character and give the show the ending it deserved.
This is because Dexter dies after being shot by his son, Harrison, in the final minutes of the revival.
Previously, Hall said it was the perfect ending for the character, despite fan protests: “I think some people are clinging to the fact that this is a character that they’ve been following for a long time and resent. love for him.”
Recall that the revival has become the most watched series in the history of the Showtime channel. The 10 episodes of the production recorded a weekly average of more than 8 million viewers across all platforms, breaking all-time records for the channel.
Live, the show’s final episode was watched by 3 million viewers, which is the highest viewership for a channel finale in more than 8 years – since the controversial ending of the original series ‘Dexter’ , which was watched by 3.3 million viewers in 2013. .
The cast includes Michael C. Hall (“Safe”), Jamie Chung (“Lovecraft Country”), Clancy Brown (“Starship Troopers”), Julia Jones (“The Mandalorian”), Alano Miller (“Sylvie’s Love”), Johnny Sequoyah (“Believe”), John Lithgow (“The Crown”), Jennifer Carpenter (“The Exorcism of Emily Rose”), Michael Cyril Creighton and Jack Alcott.
