‘Mortal Kombat’ screenwriter Greg Russo has revealed details about ‘Death Note 2’ – a sequel to the Hollywood remake criticized by Netflix.
In an interview with We Got This Covered, he revealed that the script for the sequel will bring a lot more to the original storyline.
“It’s funny because it sounds like a genre shift, but actually it all comes down to the same things. It’s about adapting the franchise. It’s about trying to please a fan and trying to do it the right way. I am a huge fan of the Death Note manga, I am a huge fan of the original source material and I think this is one of the best manga ever written. And so, for me, I didn’t play a role in Death Note, the first movie Netflix did, but I found kind of a take on what I wanted to do in a sequel. And part of that is, I wanted to go back to the source material. I wanted to go back to what made the original material so good, so we’re doing something really cool with it. I hope there will be more information about this soon, ”he said.
Ted Sarandos, CEO of the company, considers the first film to be a considerable public success, although reviews have been negative.
Director Adam Wingard returns to direct.
The main cast includes Nat Wolff, Lakeith Stanfield, Willem Dafoe, and Margaret Qualley.
