‘Morte Morte Morte’ (Bodies Bodies Bodies), the debut horror slasher from acclaimed production company A24, surprised the North American box office, taking in $3.5 million in its first weekend.

Before hitting the big screen, the horror had the highest grossing average of the week on the limited circuit, and the second highest average of the YEAR – just behind the phenomenon “Everything, everywhere in same time”.

‘Morte Morte Morte’ grossed $226,000 in six theaters, grossing $37,700 per theater. For comparison, “Everything, Everywhere at the Same Time” opened to over half a million in ten theaters, grossing an average of $50.9,000.

A24 expanded the horror release to 1,285 theaters across the United States. Although critically acclaimed (with 90% approval on Rotten Tomatoes), the film seems to have divided public opinion, receiving only 3 stars on CinemaScore.

It should be remembered that the slasher will be released in national theaters on October 6, by Sony Pictures.
