‘Dead Boy Detectives’: Neil Gaiman’s HQ adaptation earns two more names in the cast; Check!

According to Variety, Caitlin Reilly (“Hacks”) and Max Jenkins (“Dead To Me”) have been added to the cast of “Dead Boy Detectives,” an upcoming HBO Max series based on the comics of the same name by Neil Gailman (‘ Sandman’). ).

Reilly and Jenkins will play Litty and Kingham respectively.

Both will be recurring characters, portrayed as a pair of irritating and rude “dos” who will be a constant annoyance for the protagonists.

They are joined by Lukas Gage (“Euphoria”), who was recently added as the Cat King, described as a charming trickster who has the spirit of a traveling cat and takes a keen interest in Edwin Payne (George Rexstrew) , one of the protagonists of the plot. .

Previously, the Cat King was to be played by Alexander Calvert (“Supernatural”), but the role was recast following disputes over Calvert’s schedule.

In June, the portal announced that HBO Max had hired Beth Schwartz as showrunner for the series.

For those unaware, Schwartz served as showrunner for the past two seasons of ‘Arrow’ and co-showrunner of ‘Sweet Tooth’, on Netflix.

On “Dead Boy Detectives,” she will share the role with Steve Yockey, who will also serve as executive producer.

Yockey is also a producer of the series “The Flight Attendant”.

Recall that HBO Max has ordered an eight-episode first season and will produce what it describes as “a vintage detective series – but darker and more bizarre”.

Jayden Revri (“The Cottage”), Kassius Nelson (“Last Night in Soho”) and newcomer George Rexstrew will star.

Rexstrew will play Edwin Paine, while Revri and Nelson will play Charles Rowland and Crystal Palace respectively.

For those unaware, the plot follows the ghosts of teenage boys Charles Rowland and Edwin Paine, who were murdered and chose to flee the afterlife to stay on Earth as supernatural crime investigators.

They were first introduced in the “Sandman” comic book series and later got their own comic under DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint.

In addition to the trio, the series will also star Alexander Calvert (“Supernatural”) as Thomas, the Cat King; Briana Cuoco (“The Flight Attendant”) as Jenny, Crystal Palace’s friend and confidante; Jenn Lyon (“Justified”) as Esther, a witch obsessed with eternal youth; Yuyu Kitamura (“Mother Tongue”) as Niko, a college student who wants to join the Ghost Detectives; and Ruth Connell (“Supernatural”) as the Night Nurse, a demonic entity who guides the flow of souls in the plane of the afterlife.

The adaptation is written by Steve Yockey (“The Flight Attendant”), who will also serve as executive producer, along with Greg Berlanti (“Supergirl”) and Jeremy Carver (“Doom Patrol”).
