Daniel Kaluuya will voice Spider-Punk in ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’

According to The Wrap, Oscar-winning actor Daniel Kaluuya (“Run!” and “No! Don’t Look!”) has been cast in the animated film “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.”

The actor will play the hero Spider-Punk. In the comics, the character is a homeless teenager who is bitten by a spider that has become radioactive from toxic waste dumped by President Norman Osborn.

The second film will follow Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), who has taken on the role of Brooklyn neighborhood buddy, as he teams up with Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) to try and navigate the convoluted web of the multiverse in search of a new villain and a team of spiders.

Recall that both parts of the sequence have been DELAYED by Sony Pictures.

Originally scheduled for October 7, 2022, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse – Part 1” has been pushed back to June 2, 2023.

Part 2 has been postponed from 2023 to March 29, 2024.

Miles Morales returns for the next chapter in the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga, an epic adventure that will transport Brooklyn neighborhood friend Miles Morales across the multiverse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People. to take on a villain more powerful than anything they’ve ever encountered.

Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson are also joining as directors.

Santos is known for his work on “The Legend of Korra” and “Avatar: The Legend of Aang,” while Powers co-directed the critically acclaimed “Soul” alongside Peter Docter and Mike Jones.

Thompson, in turn, was responsible for the production design of the first “Spider-Verse”.

It’s worth remembering that Chris Lord and Phil Miller wrote the sequel alongside David Callaham (“Shang-Chi”). Lord originally co-signed the original film alongside director Rodney Rothman.

Daniel Pemberton also returns to compose the soundtrack for the next adventures of Miles Morales.

Released in 2019, “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” became a critical and audience success, grossing $375 million worldwide on a $90 million budget.
