According to TVLine, CBS has given the green light for the relaunch of the investigative drama “CSI”.
The new season will take place six years after the original series ended and will bring the return of Gil (William Petersen) and Sara (Jorja Fox), as well as newcomers Matt Lauria (‘Kingdom’), Paula Newsome (‘Chicago Med ‘), Mel Rodriguez (‘ Last Man on Earth ‘) and Mandeep Dhillon (‘ After Life ‘), who will form the new team.
In addition, it has also been confirmed that Wallace Langham – who played David Hodges in the original series – will return to the fixed cast of rebirth.
“Faced with an existential threat that could destroy the criminal laboratory, a new team of brilliant forensic investigators must welcome old friends back in and develop new techniques to preserve justice in Sin City.”
The initial plan would be to kick off the revival at the end of 2020, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original series, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, production is not expected to begin until 2021.
“CSI” spawned three successful spinoffs, “CSI: Miami”, “CSI: NY” and “CSI: Cyber”.
