Amazon Prime has invested in several action series adapted from classic novels, such as “Jack Ryan” and “Jack Reacher.”
And, according to Variety, there’s one more on the way…
Aldis Hodge (“Black Adam”) was reportedly cast in the lead role in “Cross,” an adaptation of the novel of the same name written by James Patterson.
In the plot, the star will play spy Alex Cross, described as “brilliant, but flawed and full of contradictions. A loving father and family man, Cross is obsessed with hunting killers. At the same time, he needs love, but his wife’s murder has left him too hurt to accept any show of affection.
Along with performing, Hodge will also be one of the producers.

The screenplay is written by Ben Watkins, who will also serve as executive producer and showrunner.
For those who don’t know, his CV has titles like ‘Mão de Deus’, ‘Truth be Told’ and ‘Burn Notice’.
Vernon Sanders, President of Global Content at Amazon Studios, celebrated the initiative saying:
“James Patterson is among the best when it comes to captivating audiences with his undeniably clever novels, and we’re confident that with Ben Watkins’ artistic vision, ‘Cross’ will do the same for our subscribers.
He continued:
“We are proud to work with James and Ben alongside Paramount Television, Skydance and the very talented Aldis Hodge, who we know will do an exceptional job bringing Alex Cross to life.”
As of now, there are still no details on the directors, the rest of the cast, and no premiere dates.
As the project is in its early stages, updates should be released over the next few months.
So far, Hodge’s most recent work is ‘Black Adam’, currently playing in theaters.
Nearly 5,000 years after being gifted with the omnipotent powers of the Egyptian gods – and just as quickly arrested – Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.
The film will also star Justice Society members Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Atom Crusher (Noah Centineo), and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell).
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (‘Águas Rasas’), the feature film will take place in the same universe as ‘Shazam!’.
