Covid-19: Health Minister Orazio Schillaci intends to introduce new rules for positive samples. Home isolation should continue for five days from the discovery of the disease, but it will be possible to leave the house without having to show the negative sample, but wearing a mask in case of residual symptoms.

In practice, during a Sars-CoV2 infection period, we will behave similarly to flu with fever, but with a few additional precautions. Schillaci’s line also found a positive review from the Lazzaro Spallanzani Institute. “It’s time to take responsibility,” the health facility said. The virus is less pathogenic, so bonds are no longer necessary.

Spallanzani’s review

Spallanzani also pointed out that “in many countries the period of isolation for people who test positive has been reduced considerably”, therefore “we believe that for asymptomatic people, isolation can last 5 days from positivity, without the need for another negative test.”

For those with mild symptoms, Spallanzani believes isolation can still end five days after the positive swab, “if fever-free for 24 hours.” The Institute of Infectious Diseases advised caution: “Especially in this phase where there may be overlap with seasonal influenza, it would be advisable within five days, if you do not test negative, to use cautiously a mask, in case of contact with fragile people”.

Spallanzani’s opinion is on the table for Minister Schillaci, who, before making any decisions, wants to wait for this week’s data to understand whether the rise in infections is accompanied by that in hospitalizations.

“We are working to ensure that asymptomatic positive patients can return sooner. We will also communicate about this soon, possibly removing the final swab as well,” the health minister said at an event on vaccinations at the ministry.

Schillaci: “Some measures are excessive”

“Today some measures are excessive, we are working on it with the ISS, Aifa and the Spallanzani Institute: if the epidemiological data continue to be good on isolation, we will have less strict rules,” Schillaci said. .

Even on the stamps “you have to think about softening because if the Covid becomes a less aggressive disease than it seems, moral persuasion on citizens and a little common sense may be enough. When you have the flu and the fever, you just have to stay at home and not go out without too much stiffness or the need to take all the samples that are taken today,” he concluded.
