A message from the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, arrives on the Covid. “After more than two and a half years of the pandemic, we cannot yet proclaim final victory. It is still necessary to show responsibility and precaution, ”says the Head of State.
Public health, said the president speaking in Rome during the celebration of the Research Days, “has the task of maintaining high security, especially for the most vulnerable, the elderly and those who suffer from previous illnesses . However, we feel that the most dramatic period is behind us”. In the fight against the Covid “science has been decisive. As has the dedication of healthcare personnel, in all their roles. As well as solidarity, in its the most diverse expressions, at all levels, from simple gestures of help between families, in communities, to the common choices made by the European Union”, underlined Mattarella.

Covid, the importance of vaccines
“Without the admirable commitment of science to identify vaccines, discovered and produced in record time, also thanks to the discoveries made in the fight against cancer, we would today be forced to count several thousand additional deaths. If today Today we can, in most cases, face Covid as if it were a less insidious flu, it is because it has been heavily downgraded as dangerous due to vaccination.
The President of the Republic then underlines that “the Covid pandemic has made us understand the importance of the National Health Service and how precious its universalist character is. It is the vocation to protect all citizens without exclusions. At the same time, we have also touched the limits of our structures and our health organization, as it has evolved over the decades. Even in the field of health, so essential to a full right to citizenship, we are called upon to make the best use of the resources of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan to increase its effectiveness”.

The government and the pandemic
In the meantime, from the Meloni government, we learn that a provision is being defined that will allow the reintegration into the service of health personnel subject to suspension procedures for non-compliance with the vaccination obligation. This will take place before the expiry date of the suspension. This was announced by the new Minister of Health, Orazio Schillaci, in a press release. Schillaci also announces the suspension of the daily bulletin publication of data relating to the spread of the epidemic, hospitalizations and deaths. From now on, the data will only be known once a week.
The Minister of Health, 6 months after the suspension of the state of emergency and given the evolution of the Covid-19 infection, considers it “appropriate to initiate a gradual return to normality of activities and behaviors”. In Schillaci’s note, it is specified that the behavior of citizens must be inspired by “criteria of responsibility and compliance with the regulations in force”.
