Why does Christian Bale owe his career to Leonardo DiCaprio? The actor, best known for Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, explained why in a recent interview with GQ.

It doesn’t happen every day for one Hollywood star to thank another, but it can happen if Leonardo DiCaprio is involved. The sometimes cheeky confession comes from Christian Bale, an actor who in turn rose to film stardom for starring in, say, Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. However, according to the person concerned, his career took off, albeit involuntarily, thanks to Leonardo DiCaprio.

What exactly does Christian Bale mean? A few months ago, the actor returned to the theater making his debut in the Marvel Universe to play the villain in Thor: Love and Thunder. An experience that he nevertheless qualifies as monotonous and that he will probably not repeat. But how did Leonardo DiCaprio help him achieve his professional goals?

Because Christian Bale thanks Leonardo DiCaprio for his career

In a recent interview with GQ, Christian Bale admitted that, albeit unintentionally, Leonardo DiCaprio helped bring him closer to the Hollywood sun and he did it completely unintentionally. He attributed his success to Hollywood star Once Upon a Time in…, explaining that for many years Leonardo DiCaprio turned down various roles and paved the way for him. If he hadn’t refused, Christian Bale probably wouldn’t have had the chance to pass these auditions and get the role.

Generally speaking, Christian Bale said, “So far, any role someone gets only comes because they have already given it up beforehand. It doesn’t matter what other people say, it doesn’t matter how friendly you are to the directors. Everyone I’ve worked with has already offered him each of these roles. So thank you Leo, because he can literally choose what he does. And so much the better for him, it’s phenomenal. But what role does it refer to? For example, Christian Bale landed the role of the serial killer in American Psycho, a 2000 horror film whose role was originally offered to Leonardo DiCaprio.

At the time, the actor refused, and only then this role was offered to Bale, who began to march to the peak of success. Besides, he doesn’t seem to have taken it the wrong way: “Do you know how grateful I am to be biased by any cabbage? I mean, I’m not able to do the amount of stuff he does. I don’t want his visibility either. Moreover, he succeeds magnificently. I suspect that in Hollywood almost all actors, more or less of the same age, owe their careers to his choice to reject this or that project.
