Tuna is one of the foods that consumers buy the most, especially thanks to the practicality of conservation given by the tin with which they form the containers. In the pantries of Italians there is always canned tuna ready to be used in many recipes. This is precisely one of the reasons why it is bought, its great versatility: it can be added to a plate of pasta, or as a side dish or to enrich a salad. Canned tuna guarantees the right caloric intake and at the same time is able to provide the consumer with plenty of protein and so-called “good fats”.

As with many foods, not all consumers follow the same line of thinking and indeed many try to avoid the consumption of canned tuna as much as possible as they consider it an unhealthy product that can cause serious harm to our body. , especially if it is customary to consume large quantities.

This segment of the population thinks that the problem is linked to real tuna: such as poor conservation or non-compliance with hygiene rules and the cold chain, but this is not the case. From what the experts say, the real problem with canned tuna is rarely the tuna itself: in most cases, the problem is the container itself.

The tin container is not exactly the best storage alternative not only for tuna, but for food in general: experts advise us to prefer a glass container for storing food. The benefits that can be obtained are many and touch on different themes, among the most important are certainly being able to really see the condition of the product and the integrity of the glass as a material. Experts claim that tuna kept in glass jars is healthier because glass is a material that does not release substances and therefore allows the food you decide to keep inside to be preserved without altering it.

Another great advantage already mentioned above is that thanks to the transparency of the glass it is possible to control the appearance of the tuna. To get the right amount of tuna in the can, it is necessary to cut the fillets into small pieces, which reduces their quality; while in glass jars it is possible to insert them intact. In addition, another big difference that experts point out to us is that canned tuna is more prone to contamination, since it has no possibility of reseal.
