Unfortunately, nowadays, there are still lawsuits and complaints from workers, to whom employers have not granted ideal deadlines for maternity, or are threatened with dismissal in the event of leave.
Hoping that there is greater awareness and above all sensitivity on the subject, good news is coming for all women, those who intend to continue their pregnancy without risking ruining or endangering their workplace.
Flexible maternity is coming, helping pregnant workers: how and when to apply
Maternity at work is generally considered with the standard formula 2 + 3. That is, the pregnant woman goes on leave for two months from the predetermined delivery date and remains on maternity leave at home during the three months following the birth of the child.
But check the alternative that could be suitable for future mothers. That is to say flexible motherhood. That is, the possibility of being absent from work for a month after the next birth and staying with the baby for up to 4 months after birth. Mother and child (Pixabay)
How to apply for flexible maternity? The worker who intends to take advantage of this alternative possibility must submit a request to her employer and to the institution paying the maternity allowance (INPS or other social security fund), accompanied by the necessary health certificates acquired during of the 7th month of pregnancy.
In addition, the future mother must indicate in the maternity leave applications the possibility of exercising flexibility, also indicating the days of flexibility she wishes to benefit from and verifying, in the preliminary phase, that the medical documentation complies with the provisions of the law. , therefore expressed as already mentioned in the seventh month of pregnancy.
Be careful to respect the deadlines: health certificates that have not been established during the 7th month of pregnancy do not allow you to continue working on the days of the 8th month following the date of issue of the certificates, and therefore the request for flexible maternity is rejected. In this case, the maternity period begins according to the ordinary procedures, ie 2 months before the presumed date of delivery and 3 months after the actual date.
