‘Blade’ Reboot Will Have Award-Winning Costume Designer ‘Black Panther’

On his Twitter profile, Next Best Picture reporter Will Mavity revealed that award-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter had been hired for the reboot of “Blade,” starring Mahershala Ali.

For those unaware, Carter previously worked with Marvel Studios on “Black Panther,” which won him the 2019 Best Costume Oscar.

She has also worked on several high-profile titles such as “My Name Is Dolemite”, “A Prince in New York 2”, “Marshall: Equality and Justice” and the biopic “Malcolm X”.

“As a half-human/half-vampire, Eric Brooks (Ali) has honed his skills in hunting down the undead who have long terrorized mankind. A human-vampire hybrid since his tragic birth, Blade has spent a lot of time trying to rid the world of vampires like the one who killed his mother.Over the years, he’s mastered his own unique style of battling monsters of all kinds.

Bassam Tariq will direct. The screenplay was written by Stacy Osei-Kuffour (“Watchmen”).

Milan Ray, Aaron Pierre and Delroy Lindo are also part of the cast.

The reboot is titled “Blade: The Vampire Hunter” and makes direct reference to the first anti-hero comics, created in 1973 by screenwriter Marv Wolfman and illustrator Gene Colan.
