‘Black Panther’ Director Recalls His LAST Conversation With Chadwick Boseman

With just six days until the premiere of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” director Ryan Coogler recalled Chadwick Boseman and the last conversation he had with the star.

Died in 2020 after being diagnosed with colon cancer, Boseman brought T’Challa to life in a short span of his career, but that was enough to leave him etched in the memory of friends and fans alike.

In a statement for the official “Black Panther” podcast (via Comic Book), Coogler said:

“I had just written the script for ‘Black Panther 2’. My last conversation with Chadwick was on the phone, when I asked him if he wanted to read it before I got any notes from the studio. That was the last time that we talked about. He passed away a few weeks after I finished writing.

Asked about Boseman’s response, Coogler seemed shaken as he replied:

Have fun watching:

“He had a tired voice, bro. I could tell he was exhausted. I think he was lying down when we spoke. simone [a noiva de Boseman] was with him, and he kicked her out of the room because he didn’t want to say anything that would get her in trouble with the big bosses at Marvel,” Coogler joked. But she didn’t want to leave him, so I I suspected something was wrong…”

Finally, he concludes sadly.

“Then he said he didn’t want to read the script because he didn’t want to mess up any notes the studio might take. He said he might read it later, but I found that he was too tired to read anything.
