“Black Adam” is one of the most anticipated films of the year, and now Variety is speculating that the film will make a splash on its American weekend.

The information indicates that the feature film with Dwayne Johnson opens with 60 million dollars at the American box office, without facing competition from ‘Halloween Ends’ (which dominated the box office last week).

The main hurdle is the romantic comedy Ticket to Heaven, starring Julia Roberts and George Clooney, which is expected to gross another $15 million.

‘Black Adam’ will be screened in 4,350 theaters in North America, but it is not yet known how much it will earn. Predictions, however, indicate that the production is not expected to exceed the number of “Batman”, which was released in March this year and grossed $770 million worldwide.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the film only has an approval rating of 54%, with a rating of 5.40/10 based on 87 reviews to date. Pundits praised the action scenes, but criticized the pacing, script, and even some special effects.

Check out the main comments:

“The effects are fake and weightless even for this sort of thing, and the risks are non-existent” – The Playlist.

“Dwayne Johnson and director Jaume Collet-Serra try to come up with a grand unified DC theory, blending familiar movie tropes with a protagonist who kills people on the spot. The result is sometimes a mess, but overall it’s fun” – Empire.

“There’s not a single character here that doesn’t look like a cheap photocopy of Gotham or the MCU” – indieWire.

“It’s fun and never dull, but it’s also wise to move fast enough to distract viewers from the questions it raises” – United Press International.

“[O filme] is packed with undeveloped characters and an inordinate number of repetitive action scenes, so much so that its incomplete discussion of what it means to be a hero gets lost in all the noise” – IGN Movies.

Recalling that the film opens today, October 20, in theaters.

Nearly 5,000 years after being gifted with the omnipotent powers of the Egyptian gods – and just as quickly arrested – Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.

The film will also star Justice Society members Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Atom Crusher (Noah Centineo), and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell).

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (‘Águas Rasas’), the feature film will take place in the same universe as ‘Shazam!’.
