According to Box Office Pro, “Black Adam” is expected to make between $55 million and $70 million in its opening weekend in the United States and Canada.
The portal mentions that one of the bright spots is that there is high anticipation for Johnson’s debut in superhero comic book adaptations.
The figure is similar to that of the opening of “Aquaman”, which exceeded US$1 billion at the worldwide box office.
Moreover, the star herself has done a great job of publicizing it thanks to her large fanbase on social media.
On the other hand, the downside is that reactions to “Black Adam” trailers have been inconsistent throughout the year, with viewing numbers falling short of expectations for a film of this magnitude.
The feature film’s first trailer only had 8 million views after 24 hours (via Reddit), while the “Batman” trailer reached 31 million views in the same time period (via Film updates).
Additionally, ‘Black Adam’ will face competition from ‘Ticket to Paradise’.
Although it’s already been released, the rom-com is expected to stay in theaters for a few weeks after “Black Adam” arrives, and leads George Clooney and Julia Roberts are pretty appealing so far.
Ultimately, “Black Adam” is expected to finish the run domestically with a box office of around $135-175 million.
Recall that the film will be released on October 20 in national theaters.
Are you waiting?
Nearly 5,000 years after being gifted with the omnipotent powers of the Egyptian gods – and just as quickly arrested – Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.
The film will also star Justice Society members Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Atom Crusher (Noah Centineo), and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell).
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (‘Águas Rasas’), the feature film will take place in the same universe as ‘Shazam!’.
