Filmmaker Francis Lawrence (“Constantine”) has revealed that the “BioShock” adaptation, which is in development at Netflix, will be faithful to the original games.
“I know what people think (of adaptations). There are some really good ones, but really, not all of them carry the weight of real ideas (shown in games). Sometimes they have a nice aesthetic or something, but often they end up hollow because they’re not built from the source material,” Lawrence told Collider.
“The thing is, BioShock will bring that. All the mythology of this world and the ideas behind it, there’s so much in there, and we’re using it.”
The streaming platform has teamed up with production company Take-Two Interactive for the development of the film, with plans to create a “possible cinematic universe” based on the popular game franchise.
Vertigo Entertainment and Take Two will be in charge of production.
