‘Beast’: Idris Elba to face murderous lion in survival thriller

According to The Wrap, Idris Elba (“Prometheus”) will star in the survival thriller “Beast,” which is being developed by Universal Pictures.

The film is set to hit theaters on August 19, 2022.

In the plot, widower Dr. Nate Samuels (Elba) travels to South Africa, where he met his wife, along with his two teenage daughters, for a game reserve. But what begins as a healing journey turns into a terrible struggle for survival when a lion, a surviving bloodthirsty hunter who now sees all humans as enemies, begins to pursue them.

Baltasar Kormákur (“survivor”) will be responsible for the leadership.

The screenplay, based on an idea by Jaime Primak-Sullivan, was written by Ryan Engle (“Rampage: Total Destruction”).
