According to Deadline, Sharlto Copley (“District 9”) has joined the cast of the survival thriller “Beast”, developed by Universal Pictures.
The actor will play Martin Battles, an old friend of the character of Idris Elba (“Prometheus”), who will star in the production.
In the plot, widower Dr. Nate Samuels (Elba) travels to South Africa, where he meets his wife, along with their two teenage daughters, in a game reserve. But what begins as a healing journey turns into a fierce fight for survival when a bloodthirsty surviving hunter who now sees all humans as enemies begins to hunt them.
Iyana Halley (“The Hate You Sow”) and Leah Sava Jeffries (“Empire”) will play the daughters of the protagonist.
The feature film is slated to hit theaters on August 19, 2022.
Baltasar Kormákur (‘Survivor’) will be responsible for the staging.
The screenplay, based on an idea by Jaime Primak-Sullivan, was written by Ryan Engle (“Rampage: Total Destruction”).
