‘Avengers: Endgame’: Kevin Feige wanted ALL members of the original team killed

“Avengers: Endgame” marked the departure of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) and Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) from the MCU, as they both sacrificed themselves to defeat Thanos (Josh Brolin).

Natasha threw herself off a cliff onto Vormir so Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) could take possession of the Soul Stone, while Stark gave his life by snapping his fingers from the Infinity Gauntlet to finish off the villain and his army.

But if it were up to Kevin Feige, all of the original Avengers would be dead.

During an interview for the Happy Sad Confused podcast, director Joe Russo said:

“There was a time when Kevin was really obsessed with the idea of eliminating the six founders of the Avengers. We thought it was a very aggressive idea that the public would not be able to process. We offered to sacrifice a or two characters over the course of the film as this would slow down the action in progress and might also give the viewer a moment to think.

Antoine added that:

“It would also be very predictable. You would wait for the other characters to die when you know what we were doing… But anyway, those were early ideas. We couldn’t even write a script about it.

On the other hand, Joe revealed that Captain America would also be among the dead in one of the scripts that was actually written.

At the start of writing, Cap would be killed by Thanos in 2014, who would travel to 2023 with the hero’s head as a trophy, but the filmmakers realized there would be a timeline issue if they chose to go that route. .

“Most of the script worked, except for the third act, because Anthony and I were hanging on to this concept that we wanted Thanos to walk up to the Avengers and throw Captain America’s head on the ground. We couldn’t give up and finally said, ‘Okay, and if we don’t, can we find another way to get into the third act?’ And that’s when the film became what it is now.

So do you think killing off all the key members of the team would make the movie even more impactful?
