Although it began as a sequel to the “Dawn of the Dead” remake, the post-apocalyptic “Army of the Dead – The Las Vegas Invasion” turned out to be an independent film without any connection whatsoever. Zack Snyder zombie production directed by Zack Snyder 2004.
However, @MoviesThatMaher found a surprising Easter Egg in the Netflix feature, which directly links to the events of “Dawn of the Dead”.
About 27 minutes after the film starts, Tig Notaro’s character plays with his cell phone and stops by an article that has a very interesting title: “New Information on the 2004 Zombie Outbreak in Milwaukee”.
‘Dawn of the Dead’ was released in 2004 and its story presumably takes place in the same year. Additionally, the film’s events take place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Are the two films set in the same universe or was it just a fun Easter egg for the more observant fans?
